China Open Beijing 2026: Tickets, Getting There, and Golden Week

The China Open (WTA 1000 women's, ATP 500 men's) runs from September 28, 2026 to October 11, 2026 – and only partially overlaps with Golden Week (October 1, 2026–October 7, 2026). That's what decides the cost of the whole trip: before the holiday week, everything is cheap, but only early rounds are played; during the holiday week the confirmed men's final falls (October 6, 2026), but trains, hotels, and tickets are at their most expensive; afterward, from October 8, 2026 to October 11, 2026, the women's tournament runs from quarterfinals through to the final at normal prices again – in our assessment, the best window of the entire two weeks.

Official ticket sales have been open since August 5, 2026. The member discount (up to 20%) ends on August 18, 2026.

Purchase & entry with a passport

Tickets are sold under a real-name system – a passport is usually required both at purchase and at entry, as with most major sporting and cultural events in China. The organizer hasn't published exact details of the process for foreign visitors yet.

Exchanges & refunds

As of 2026-08-12, exchange and refund rules haven't been published yet. Worth checking the terms on the official sales site before you buy.

Official channel vs. secondary market

Buy exclusively through the official site https://www.chinaopen.com/. With personalized, real-name tickets, there's a real risk on the secondary market that the name on the ticket won't match your passport, and entry will be refused.

The venue is the National Tennis Center (Beijing) in the north of Olympic Park; the main show court is the Diamond Court with 15,000 seats. The simplest way to reach Olympic Park is by metro – details on the nearest station right below.

Forest Park South Gate (Line 8) – approx. 16–27 min on foot to the venue
Lincuiqiao (Line 8) – approx. 5–8 min on foot to the venue

The closest station is Lincuiqiao (林萃桥) on Line 8, less than 500 m from the venue. The interchange station Olympic Park (奥林匹克公园, Lines 8 and 15) is about 2.4 km away and is more relevant for onward travel to other parts of the city than for walking. In the navigation app "Amap" (高德地图), search for "中国网球公开赛" (China Open) – the app then automatically calculates the best route and navigates directly to one of the nearby parking lots.

Expect a security check at entry, as at any major sporting event – plan extra time accordingly. The organizer hasn't published exact rules on permitted items (bottles, power banks, large bags) as of 2026-08-12.

Rain or evening sessions

Beijing can still be warm and occasionally rainy in early October; it cools down noticeably in the evenings – worth bringing an extra layer for evening sessions. The organizer hasn't yet said whether or which courts have a roof.

Golden Week pitfalls: what travelers often miss

Train tickets: the presale window

12306 only releases long-distance train tickets 15 days in advance. Around Golden Week, popular routes are often sold out within minutes – anyone traveling for the men's final (October 6, 2026) should time their purchase exactly to the first day of presale. More on our public holidays page.

Sights: real-name time-slot reservations

Popular sites like the Forbidden City or the Great Wall require a pre-reserved, time-slotted admission ticket during the holiday week, often booked out days in advance – that can easily clash with a match day. Anyone who wants both should book sightseeing slots as early as possible.

October 1: downtown traffic

On National Day, large-scale traffic closures are traditional around Tiananmen Square and Chang'an Avenue for the National Day ceremony. Details change every year and are usually only announced at short notice – build in extra time for trips through downtown on the morning of October 1.

Makeup workdays: September 20, 2026 and October 10, 2026

These two days are regular working days (调休), even though they fall on a weekend – offices, government agencies, and schools operate as normal, only the calendar block shifts. This doesn't change anything for the tournament, which runs normally on both days.

Whether and how well foreign cards currently work with Alipay or WeChat Pay changes constantly and depends on your bank and card type – there's no blanket answer. Our status page tracks the current state; bring some cash as a backup either way.

Where to stay? Four zones to choose from

The National Tennis Center sits in the northern part of Olympic Park – no established hotel district is within walking distance; the nearest one (around the Aoti Center) is a good 4 km away, but on the same metro line as the closest station to the venue. We don't recommend individual hotels or list prices – availability around a tournament changes too fast for that. Instead, here's a decision guide by zone:

Aoti Center / Bird's Nest area

approx. 4 km, same Line 8, no transfer

For anyone who wants to avoid transferring: a few stops south of Lincuiqiao on Line 8, but usually the city's highest price premium during Golden Week.

Yayuncun – Datun

approx. 3–4 km, one transfer (Line 8 → Line 15 at Olympic Park)

A good middle ground: a short ride with one transfer, noticeably lower price premium than staying right at the venue.

Guomao – Sanlitun

approx. 11–14 km, several stops, at least one transfer

For anyone who wants restaurants, bars, and shopping away from the tournament grounds in the evening and is willing to accept a longer ride.

Wangjing

approx. 9 km east, one transfer (Line 8 → Line 15)

Budget-conscious travelers who value good value for money and are willing to accept a longer ride.

When is the China Open 2026 in Beijing?

From September 28, 2026 to October 11, 2026 at the National Tennis Center in Beijing. The men's final (ATP 500) is on October 6, 2026, and the women's final (WTA 1000) is on October 11, 2026.

Where can I get official tickets?

Only through the official site https://www.chinaopen.com/ – sales have been open since August 5, 2026. We'd advise against secondary-market sellers, see the "Tickets" section above.

Does the tournament overlap with Golden Week?

Only partially. From September 28, 2026 to September 30, 2026 the tournament runs before the holiday week; from October 1, 2026 to October 7, 2026 it falls within Golden Week; and from October 8, 2026 to October 11, 2026 it continues afterward – in our assessment, this last window offers the best value for money. Do I need a visa?

How do I get to the National Tennis Center?

By metro: Lincuiqiao (林萃桥) station on Line 8 is less than 500 m from the venue, and Exit C2 leads directly to the West Gate 1 (西1门). Alternatively, take the bus (81, 510, 478, 379, 专44) to the "Metro Lincuiqiao" (地铁林萃桥站) stop. Coming from farther away, change at Olympic Park station (奥林匹克公园, Lines 8 and 15). Are September 20 and October 10, 2026 regular working days in China?

Yes – these are makeup workdays (调休): regular working days inserted to compensate so that Golden Week can stay off as one continuous block. Offices, government agencies, and schools work as normal on these days, and the tournament runs as normal too. More on our public holidays page.

Will I still be able to get train tickets around Golden Week?

The official 12306 booking system only releases long-distance train tickets 15 days in advance. Around Golden Week, popular routes are often sold out within minutes – time your purchase as precisely as possible to the first day of presale.

Can I pay with my foreign card via Alipay or WeChat Pay at the stadium?
