Canton Fair 2026 and 2027: Dates, Phases, Hall Map, and Visa Guide

Contains affiliate links · What does that mean?

The 140th China Import and Export Fair – the Canton Fair, 广交会 – fills the Pazhou complex in Guangzhou from October 15 to November 4, 2026: about 1.55 million m² and more than 30,000 exhibitors, according to China’s Ministry of Commerce. It is not one fair but three, each with its own products. So the first question is not when, but which phase – and then which hall. The next session, the 141st, follows in spring: April 15 to May 5, 2027.

Unofficial guide. China Panorama is not connected with the organizer. The organizer’s information is authoritative – check halls and dates on the official exhibition hall map and the Canton Fair website.

In short: pick your phase by product (search it in the 3D hall map), pre-register online, collect the free buyer badge with your passport on arrival, and take Metro Line 8 to Xingang East or Pazhou. Book the hotel early: fair weeks are the most expensive of the year in Guangzhou.

The 141st session keeps the usual rhythm: three phases of five days, with the halls rebuilt on April 20–22 and April 28–30. Business hours are given as 09:30–18:00. Phase 3 overlaps China’s May Day holiday (see public holidays), when trains and hotels are at their busiest.

Right now exhibitors are applying for booths. For buyers there is nothing to book with the fair yet: pre-registration is open all year, and a valid badge from an earlier session still works. Book your hotel as soon as you know your phase. Which products go to which phase and hall is published shortly before the fair, and categories move between halls from session to session. Until then the themes above are those of autumn 2026, and so is the hall map below.

Dates as published for the exhibitor booth sales of the 141st session; the Ministry of Commerce’s announcement was not out yet on October 24, 2026. We will check this section against it.

Booths, not just halls, are on the official exhibition hall map; the organizer’s official app navigates to the booth inside the halls.

The buyer badge: free, but register first

  1. 1

    Pre-register online

First-time overseas buyers register on the official website or in the official app before they travel. Registration is open all year. Use the name exactly as in your passport.

  2. 2

    Collect it on arrival

Badge centres at Baiyun Airport, Guangzhou South railway station, the Pazhou ferry terminal (for Hong Kong and Macau), designated hotels and the fair’s office in Hong Kong. The organizer counts 70 badge points with 628 counters and about 30 seconds per badge.

  3. 3

    Passport and code

At the counter, show your passport and the code or QR code from your registration. The badge is free for overseas buyers. A valid badge from an earlier session can be used again.

Source: Ministry of Commerce announcement and Yangtse Evening Post, October 13, 2026. Chinese companies are admitted only by invitation, so a local colleague may not be able to come along without one.

The official app: Canton Fair (CIEF)

The organizer’s free app comes in a buyer and a supplier version, for iPhone and iPad and for Android. According to the organizer you can pre-register and get your invitation in it, search exhibitors and products by category or keyword, plan an itinerary, navigate to a booth inside the halls, message exhibitors and swap e-business cards. We have not tested it ourselves. Download: App Store · organizer’s app page (Android and iOS).

Visa and entry

First check whether you need a visa at all – for many nationalities a trade fair trip is visa-free. If you do need one, most buyers apply for an M (business) visa with the Canton Fair’s invitation.

Visa-free for many countries

Citizens of many countries – Germany among them – can enter China without a visa for up to 30 days, and business trips count. Others can transit visa-free for up to 10 days on the way to a third country. Your nationality decides: Visa Check.

Arrival card and hotel registration

Fill in the arrival card online before you land – practise it on our arrival card page. Hotels register foreign guests with the police within 24 hours; you just show your passport at check-in.

Not visa-exempt? The M (business) visa

What you usually need:

  • a passport valid for at least six more months, with at least two blank pages
  • a recent colour passport photo
  • the completed online visa application form and its confirmation page
  • an invitation letter – trade fair invitations are accepted; the Canton Fair issues them to overseas buyers who pre-register on its website or in the app
  • business documents, if the embassy or consulate asks for them

Requirements differ between embassies, consulates and visa centres, and some ask for more. Confirm the list with the Chinese embassy, consulate or visa application centre where you apply, and apply early enough for the phase you want.

Getting to the Pazhou complex

The complex (中国进出口商品交易会展馆, No. 382 Yuejiang Zhong Road, Haizhu District, Guangzhou; show taxi drivers 广州市海珠区阅江中路382号) is on the south bank of the Pearl River in Haizhu District, east of the Canton Tower. Metro Line 8 runs along the south side of Areas D, A and B, with Area C south of the line; Line 11 and an intercity line also stop at Pazhou.

Three weeks after the autumn session, Areas A and D host theGuangzhou Auto Show, 27 November – 6 December 2026.

Metro with your bank card

About 9,000 metro gates in Guangzhou take foreign contactless bank cards, and the city runs a special fair timetable. How tapping in works: How to ride the metro in China.

Taxi and ride-hailing

More than 2,000 taxis and ride-hailing cars are dispatched to the complex every day of the fair. Expect queues at closing time; the metro is usually faster then.

From the airport, trains and Hong Kong

Baiyun Airport (CAN) and Guangzhou South station both have badge centres. From Hong Kong, high-speed trains run to Guangzhou South and ferries to the Pazhou terminal next to the complex. Nonstop flights to Guangzhou: from Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand, Singapore and Malaysia.

Opening hours

Buyer guides give 09:30–18:00. The official announcement we used does not state hours, so check the Canton Fair website or app before your first day.

Hotels and money

Book early

The autumn fair, mid-October to early November, and the spring fair, mid-April to early May, are when Guangzhou’s hotels are fullest and dearest. Anywhere along Metro Line 8 keeps the commute short; we don’t recommend individual hotels. Budget with our trip cost calculator.

Paying

Food stalls, taxis and small shops expect Alipay or WeChat Pay; both take foreign cards. Set it up before you fly: Alipay guide. Carry some cash as a fallback. Whether your bank works today: China trip status.

Between fair days: Guangzhou in a few hours

Evenings, the changeover days, or the morning before your flight. Five places from our own visits – the full city guide has seventeen.

How do I register for the Canton Fair 2027?

As an overseas buyer, pre-register on the official Canton Fair website or in its app – registration is open all year, so you can do it now for the 141st session. Then collect the free buyer badge with your passport at a badge centre in Guangzhou or Hong Kong. A valid badge from an earlier session still works, and pre-registered buyers get the invitation letter for an M visa in the same place.

Which phase of the Canton Fair should I visit?

The one that shows your products. Phase 1 is machinery, electronics, appliances, vehicles, lighting, hardware and tools; Phase 2 is tableware, kitchen and household goods, gifts, decor, furniture, building materials and garden; Phase 3 is clothing, shoes, bags, textiles, toys, baby products, health, personal care, food and office supplies. Search your product in the hall map on this page.

Is the Canton Fair free for foreign buyers?

Yes. According to China's Ministry of Commerce, overseas buyers get the buyer badge free of charge. First-time buyers pre-register on the official website (open all year) and collect the badge with their passport at a badge centre: Baiyun Airport, Guangzhou South station, the Pazhou ferry terminal, designated hotels or the fair's Hong Kong office. A valid badge from an earlier session still works.

Which metro station is closest to the Canton Fair?

Both are on Metro Line 8. Following the organizer’s metro guide: Xingang East (Xingangdong), Exit A, for Areas A and D; Pazhou, Exits A, B, E or F for Area B and Exit C for Area C. Pazhou is also on Line 11. Guangzhou runs a special metro timetable during the fair, and foreign contactless bank cards work at the gates.

What are the Canton Fair opening hours?

Buyer guides give 09:30–18:00 daily. We did not find the hours in the official announcement, so check the Canton Fair website or app before you go.

Do I need a visa for the Canton Fair?

Many nationalities can enter China without a visa for up to 30 days, which covers business trips such as a trade fair; for Germans currently until December 31, 2026. Others can use visa-free transit of up to 10 days when flying on to a third country. Check your nationality on our Visa Check page. If you do need a visa, most buyers apply for an M (business) visa: passport valid for six more months with two blank pages, a photo, the online application form with its confirmation page, and the Canton Fair’s invitation letter, which pre-registered overseas buyers get on the website or in the app.

Is there an official Canton Fair app?

Yes: Canton Fair (CIEF), free, in a buyer and a supplier version for iOS and Android. According to the organizer it handles pre-registration and the invitation letter, supplier and product search, itinerary planning, booth navigation inside the halls and messaging with exhibitors.

When did the Canton Fair start?

The first session opened on April 25, 1957 in Guangzhou, with 1,223 buyers from 19 countries and regions. It has been held every spring and autumn since, so autumn 2026 is the 140th session. Until 2007 it was called the Chinese Export Commodities Fair; at the 101st session it became the China Import and Export Fair.

How many buyers attended the last Canton Fair?

The 139th session (April 15 to May 5, 2026) drew 314,000 overseas buyers from 220 countries and regions, 1.1% more than the session before. More than 32,000 companies exhibited on 75,700 booths, and on-site intended export deals came to US$25.7 billion.
